The function of the Missions Team is to provide leadership and communication services concerning the missions effort at Parkwood Gardens Church.
Putting a “face” on missions work is a major priority. That “face” might include sharing with the Parkwood people the work and prayer needs of the Klines, Global Ministries overseas staff in Macau, China. God is using the Klines to impact and help transform the lives of young people for Christ in that part of the world.
The Missions Team also plays a leadership role in coordinating and promoting fundraising and logistics efforts to support annual short term missions work in Haiti. Missions work that involves rebuilding churches and rebuilding human lives in Haiti. To get this done, the Missions Team nurtures missions participation amongst all church members and adherents.
Another prayerful effort is to get along side youth and college and careers leadership in a planning assistance role. That might include the development of missions initiatives that lead to overseas and cross-cultural missions opportunities.

The Parkwood Gardens Church is happy to join with other congregations of the United Brethren Church in Canada in impacting the country of Haiti for Jesus! The denomination's Global Outreach Leadership Team sponsors missions trips to Haiti to work with the pastors and people of our 30 United Brethen Churches there.
We also partner with CH Global (HQ in Kitchener, ON) to provide support for children, families and communities in Haiti, particularly to those at risk and those with disabilities. A child sponsorship program is an effective vehicle for this support for these precious little ones.
After last year's earthquake that devastated the country, our own Jeff Gordon joined a small group of leaders on a fact-finding mission to see what could be done to rebuild the ministries of our partner churches. As a result, mission teams have worked on construction projects in Port au Prince. Future teams will help rebuild two U.B. churches in Cite Soleil that were demolished, plus build schools and churches around the country.
More Canadian teams will travel to Haiti in October to do a medical ministry alongside the Haitian people, and another team will head there to do construction work in January of 2012. Contact the church office if you're interested in joining this team.
Parkwood Gardens' own Kara-Lynn Ferguson was in Haiti for six months this year, working at the Mission of Hope orphanage near Port au Prince.
