that the Bible is our perfect authority and relevant for today

that all Christians need to regularly participate in corporate worship

that a church must have an outward focus to be obedient to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)

that the church must have an inward focus as the foundation that its ministries can build upon (Eph. 4:16; Gal. 5:13)

that all Christians need to be baptized to identify them-selves with Christ, celebrate communion to remember Christ, and live with integrity to honour Christ

that all Christians should be concerned for the lost, the poor and less fortunate, as an expression of their worship of God (I John 4:19)

that people matter more than property

that all actively-attending believers should regularly support the ministries of the church

that the local church must actively please God in all matters under the leadership of the pastor, the elected Executive Team and Ministry Teams

that all leaders, teachers and members must be personally committed to Christ and to upholding His Word

that the worship celebration should be designed for the believer, but friendly to the seeker

that the church must be effective in reaching its community before reaching further (Acts 1:8)

that spiritual care should be Bible-based, prayerful, preventative, protective, uplifting, pastoral and loving

that all Christians need to be equipped for living the Christian life and for serving God and others.  This is an ongoing process.

that the cause of missions is best served with proper information and broad participation

that all church properties should be maintained at the  highest quality to enhance the ministries and the appeal of the church

that Biblical stewardship should be presented regularly to the congregation

that all leaders, teams, com-mittees and teachers must carry out their duties and responsibilities according to scriptural principles

that all Christians need to be confident and growing in their understanding of the Scriptures

that Christ needs to be clearly presented in every worship service

that the most effective method of winning the community is by friends reaching friends (missional)

that this spiritual care is to be provided by ALL believers towards one another (primarily by the use of spiritual gifts

(I Corinthians 12:7)

that this process must include prayer, a working knowledge of Scriptures, loving, healthy relationships, and identification of spiritual gifts in ministry opportunities

that priorities for financial support in missions should be:

á     U.B. missionaries

á     Parkwood people

á     Canadian entities

In that order

that church facilities should be primarily used for active church attenders when not being used for a church-sponsored event

that the church financial picture should be shared with the congregation on a regular basis

that the local church Executive Team should annually review, update and ratify the official church short- and  long-term plans

that the Scriptures are to be used for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness

(2 Timothy 3:16, 17)

that the worship style needs to be relevant to the needs and desires of the participants

that the church must provide non-threatening opportunities for friends to bring friends (attractional)

that meaningful relationships are the necessary environment for spiritual care (the discovery, development & use of spiritual gifts)

that mature Christians are reproducing their lives in others

that it is important to put a ÒfaceÓ to our missions work

that church facilities should be available for authorized use by the community, to raise our profile and demonstrate community involvement

that the church should function on a budget system that reflects our core values, is realistic and yet allows for an element of faith

 

that the Executive Team determines the policies and procedures of the local church and regularly reviews and updates them

that the Scriptures need to be taught effectively at every age level within the church

that worship on Sunday morning is not enough; a believerÕs level of personal worship will enhance or detract from corporate worship

that the most effective means of public evangelism demonstrates gentleness and respect

(I Peter 3:15,16)

that small groups provide a believer with the best place for fellowship, encouragement, support, growth and accountability

that all Christians should be a part of a ÒnetworkingÓ process of finding and using their passion, gifts and abilities for ministry

that all Christians should be encouraged to participate in a short-term mission opportunity

that we should take advantage of the gifts of helps and service within the congregation, whenever possible and practical

that the church should financially support the work of the Conference and denomination at the level requested by the denomination

that each member should be encouraged to serve God in/ through the local church in some capacity of leadership or area of expertise, according to his/her spiritual gifts

that the best place for teaching the Scriptures is the home and so we need to prepare parents to teach their children

that the higher the predictability, the lower the impact

that the church should be effective reaching cross-culturally at home and abroad

that every believer needs to be involved in a small group in order to benefit and contribute the most

that Christians should be active in community life, ready to influence in a way that does not alienate others nor compromise beliefs (Acts 17:19-34) following the directive of James 1:19

that at least 80% of the missions budget should go to U.B. missions and U.B. members in missions, with a priority on overseas and cross-cultural missionary endeavours

that the church must be analyzing the physical plant and surrounding property to provide for church growth

that tithing is a command of God for all believers, individually and corporately; the church should tithe itÕs local income to missions

that every leader in the local church should continuously ask God for wisdom and be sensitive and responsive to the leading of the Holy Spirit
